Milburn Signs

Spartans first signing of the summer is Ben Milburn.

Ben will be a familiar face to Spartans fans having signed for the 2021/22 season. After an impressive preseason the then Blyth Manager Michael Nelson described the defender as “one for the future” The then 18-year-old would spend most of the season on loan at first Whickham and then North Shields where he helped the latter win the Northern Premier Division 1 title. Between loans he made his Spartans debut against Kettering Town in the National League North.

The last two seasons have been spent at Consett AFC where he was vice captain for the 2023/24 season. During his time at The Steelmen, he was selected for the English Universities Squad.

Speaking on Ben’s signing, Director of Football Steve Howard said: “Ben is a fantastic defender with an old head on young shoulders, he will be a huge part of this squad and our push for promotion.

“His tenacious attitude and work ethic is something we need at this club.”

On resigning, Ben said: “Since the last time I was here, I have progressed massively as a player.

“As soon as I got the call from Steve, it was a no brainer for me to get the deal sorted and get cracking.”

Welcome back, Ben!
