Opposition
Ilkeston Town FC was formed in July 2017, following Ilkeston FC folding in the months prior. The club started in the Midland Football League ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Since then they have risen to the NPL Premier Division and this is their second year in the division having finished 11th last season.
They currently sit fifth in the league standings and in their last outing they were defeated 3-1 by Prescot Cables.
What They're Saying
After their defeat to Prescot Cables, Ian Deakin said: “It was a difficult game.
“You know we had a man sent off after 15 minutes, a handball on the line, but we will have to watch it back as it didn't look like it to me from where we were. “That changed the game as we should've been 2-0 up by that point as we started really brightly.”
Last Time We Met
This will be the first time that Blyth Spartans have faced Ilkeston Town since they reformed in 2017.
However, the last time they met Ilkeston FC, the Spartans won 5-0 back in February 2017 as Jarrett Rivers scored twice, while Robbie Dale, Adam Wrightson and Dan Maguire all scored once.
