Team News

What We're Saying
Following our last match against Matlock Town, Michael Connor said:
I can't put that into words. I am embarrassed, I am devastated, I am angry. I have never in my life watched a performance or been involved as a manager as a performance like that. No heart, no desire, couldn't pass a ball, we talk about being bold and being brave and playing with intensity and there was just none of that.
Opposition
Managed by Robbie Savage, who is also their Director of Football, Macclesfield FC was founded on October 13, 2020, following the dissolution of Macclesfield Town the previous day. Macclesfield Town was liquidated and expelled from the National League in 2020 due to outstanding debts, and shortly after, Robert Smethurst created the Phoenix club, Macclesfield FC.
Their first professional season started in August 2021 in the North West Counties Football League and they have since risen to the NPL Premier Division.
They currently sit top of the league after 16 matches unbeaten, having won 14 and drawing twice. In their last outing in the Isuzu FA Trophy Second Round, Macclesfield beat Curzon Ashton 5-3 on Penalties after the match finished 2-2.
What They're Saying
Looking ahead to the fixture on Saturday, Robbie Savage said:
We've just trained and the lads were training with intensity and a competitive spirit about them. In the games that we do, the comradery, the togetherness, the willing to win and not make mistakes and then we go into the patterns of play. You know it's always serious, but that's how we get the detail out so we're ready and we know it's going to be a tough game and I've stressed to the players that these are the games which can win you titles.
Last Time We Met
This will be the first meeting between the two clubs.
