Match reaction-Hednesford game
Sunday, 26 August 2012
After Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Hednesford at Croft Park manager Tommy Cassidy was left paraphrasing a desperate Richard the Third.
"A midfield, a midfield . . .my Kingdom for a midfield!" Centre-mid specifically.
Cassidy commented: "We were not too bad in the first half but poor in the second.
"Phil Airey's goal after three minutes was a good one and we could have gone on to get one or two more in the first half and things were looking up as our confidence grew. The two goals we conceded were silly ones brought about by players not communicating. I saw things on the pitch I wasn't happy with. The middle of the park is way, way short. We don't have enough energy or quality passing -it's the same old story. Once Lee Mason had to go off with a reoccurrence of a hamstring problem, we went downhill.
"However," he added, "If we can get that sorted we will be a threat. Believe me!"
A trip to Whitby on Monday will determine if Cassidy's men can get back in the saddle.
