Spartans and Radio Northumberland announcement
Friday, 18 January 2013
Following the success of their coverage of the FC United of Manchester game in November, Blyth Spartans and Radio Northumberland are delighted to announce that the station will be covering at least further three Spartans home games before the end of the season. The games covered will be Buxton on the 9th of February, AFC Fylde on the 2nd of March and our final home game of the season against Grantham Town on the 20th of April.
Radio Northumberland Head of Sport Jonny Hall will be joined in the commentary box by Spartans Press Officer Mark Carruthers for the fixtures. Next season the station will become a regular visitor at Croft Park and are looking into covering some Spartans away fixtures as well. There will be a further announcement during the summer regarding next season. The station are currently going through their 5 year community license application and hope to find out in the next few months whether they can become a fully fledged FM station as well as their current status of internet based.
Radio Northumberland commentator Jonny Hall said "One of the main aims of Radio Northumberland is promoting the standard and quality of non-league football in this area so we are delighted to agree a deal to cover more Blyth Spartans games this season and into next season as well. As one of the most famous non league clubs in the country it's great to have Spartans behind us. This is a partnership that we see going from strength to strength over the coming years."
Spartans General Manager Ian Evans commented "It's great to see that a local radio station will be covering matches at Croft Park on a regular basis and looking to cover some of our away games next season. Hopefully, by promoting the club in this way, it just might bring a few more people out to watch the games live at Croft Park and eventually get to hear our away games as well."
