A big thank you to the Green Army
Wednesday, 6 November 2013
It's been a busy time for everyone connected with Blyth Spartans. Six home fixtures in twenty one days have thrown up some memorable moments including the 6-0 hammering of League leaders Skelmersdale United in the FA Trophy and the 3-2 win over play off challengers Ilkeston.
While manager Tom Wade, his coaching staff and the players have put in a fantastic effort on the pitch everybody at Blyth Spartans want to thank our supporters for their backing throughout the last four weeks.
On behalf of the Executive Committee, General Manager Ian Evans said "With changes made very early in the season to our fixture list, not of our doing I might add, and two consecutive home ties in the FA Trophy, we found ourselves with six consecutive home fixtures. Our home support throughout this "expensive" period can only be applauded. There has been however some great performances in this period and I now hope our home support cant wait until we return on Saturday 23rd to face Rushall Olympic"
With over 1,500 spectators coming through the Croft Park gates during the six game spell Wade and his side have received some fantastic support. In retun they have won four of the six games scoring fifteen goals and incredibly eight different players getting on the scoresheet in the process. In fact during the six game spell there has been an average of 3.5 goals per game.
The Spartans boss was quick to praise the Croft Park faithful and urged them to continue their support as his side look to carry on their impressive start to the season.
"After six home games on the trot the players and the management would like to say a huge thank you to our loyal supporters. In these hard times and Xmas just around the corner to see over 1, 500 at our games is incredible"
He continued "The support for the players has been a great help in the development of what is a young and inexperienced group of footballers. The team is a work in progress and the supporters have been very understanding of this. The players will get better as the season goes on but we will have ups and downs but with the support behind us and the effort the lads put in I am sure we can have an enjoyable season as we try to build a side we can all be proud of"
