Blyth Spartans are pleased to confirm that Adam Richardson has joined the club on loan from Sunderland AFC until 31st Jan 2025.

In September, the 21-year-old goalkeeper joined Hebburn Town on a one-month loan deal and featured five times for the Hornets in the NPL Premier Division and Isuzu FA Trophy.

Richardson also had a loan spell at Guiseley in March 2023, but it was cut short due to an injury.

He has progressed through the ranks at the Academy of Light and made 17 appearances for the Black Cats in the Premier League 2 in the past two seasons. In the summer, he signed a new contract keeping him on Wearside until 2026.

On joining Spartans Richardson said:

Delighted to sign, I'm excited to come and play men's football at a big club and hopefully we can get going in the right direction.

Spartans Goalkeeper coach Tom Read spoke about Richardson's signing :

I'm really looking forwards to working with Adam. He's highly regarded but at the same time he's eager to learn. I think he will be a great fit here and exciting for him to get going.

Welcome to Spartans Adam!
