Arrival | Dan Maguire completes Blyth Spartans return

Thursday, 6 May 2021

Blyth Spartans AFC is absolutely over the moon to announce Dan Maguire has returned to Croft Park after two years away.

Maguire, otherwise known as Nipa, began his long association with the club in 2012 when he signed from Northern Alliance side Seaton Delaval.

Whilst collecting a number of personal and team accolades, Maguire netted an impressive 159 goals in 310 appearances before opting for full-time football with York City.

And after half a season at Darlington, the 28-year-old is back in green and white colour - and back at his football home.

Maguire said: "I am looking forward to it. It was a no-brainer really.

"It's massive, I spent a lot of time here before I left to go to York and it's good to be back again.

"When I spoke to Nelse and Kevin Scott, the club wants to push on out of these times.

"Hopefully, we can start winning some games, scoring some goals and making it an enjoyable place to come for players and fans."

Michael Nelson, manager of Blyth Spartans, said: "Nipa doesn't really need any introduction by me to the Blyth fans. He is practically a cult hero already but we aim to make him more so this season.

"His goals speak for themselves and we are confident he can add many more to his already impressive goal tally at the club.

"I'm sure the fans are excited by us being able to bring him back to the club and hopefully the other signings added to that excites them even more."
