Arrival | Dart signs with under-19s and first-team

Wednesday, 5 August 2020

Blyth Spartans AFC is pleased to announce the signing of Morgan Dart - the first player to benefit from the club's exciting partnership with TyneMet college.

The club announced last week it had continued its partnership with TyneMet and increased its involvement in the under-19s with Michael Nelson taking charge alongside his first-team duties.

The partnership will see Nelson's under-19s represent Spartans in the National Youth Alliance for the 2020-21 season, while undertaking a vocational course at TyneMet College.

Dart, who played for Northern League Division One side Seaham Red Star last season, will be contracted to both the under-19s and first-team.

He now hopes to force his way into Nelson's first-team plans for the 2020-21 National League North season, which is due to start on Saturday October 3, subject to FA and government approval.

The young striker said: "I'm happy to sign for Blyth - It's a really good step up for me.

"I'm looking forward to impressing the manager and hopefully challenge for a place in the first-team.

"I'd describe myself as quite quick, a good shot and I'm not afraid to get at my man."

Nelson explained: "I'll be coaching the under-19s side and taking charge of the games.

"We hope this will be a great chance for the young players to develop their game and possibly work their way into contention for the first team here at Blyth Spartans.

"There will be opportunities for the players who are excelling to be involved and integrated into the first team training sessions.

"Morgan is the first of the players to be both part of the under-19s programme and also contracted to the first-team."

Meanwhile, the Blyth Spartans home and away shirt for the 2020/21 season will go on sale at the club shop on Saturday, which is open from 1pm until 4pm.
