Arrival | Karl Byrne joins Blyth
Wednesday, 5 May 2021
Blyth Spartans AFC is pleased to announce the signing of Karl Byrne.
Byrne, who can play in midfield or as a full-back, had initially signed in February before the National League North season was made null and void.
The 24-year-old played in Ireland's second tier with Cabinteely FC before moving to England in 2019.
He trained with League One side Burton Albion under Nigel Clough. Spells at Frickley Athletic and Boston United then followed.
Michael Nelson, manager of Blyth Spartans, said: "Karl is someone we brought in to look at just before the season got postponed.
"He impressed straight away but unfortunately didn't get a chance to play in any games.
"He is full of energy and enthusiasm and can cover right back and centre midfield so gives us options."
On signing, Byrne said: "I'm delighted to be here.
"I'm really happy the manager has decided to take a chance on me.
"I'm just looking forward to the season ahead of doing the business."
