Arrival | McGlade returns to Blyth Spartans

Saturday, 9 November 2019

Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce the signing of former attacker Dylan McGlade from Bray Wanderers.

McGlade, 24, had a short spell at Croft Park during the 2017-18 season before moving back to his native Ireland with Longford Town, the team he previously joined the club from.

At the turn of the year, McGlade joined Bray Wanderers, however has returned to England after the conclusion of their season in September.

McGlade began his career at Middlesbrough and represented the Republic of Ireland at U17, U18 and U19 level.

He then moved over to Ireland in 2013, initially signing for Shelbourne FC before moving on to Irish Premier League side St Patrick's Athletic.

Now, McGlade is back in Northumberland having previously played four times for Spartans and scoring one goal.

"It's great to be back at Croft Park," McGlade said. "I have a lot of ties in the North East and it feels good to be back.

"Hopefully I can make an impact on the pitch with goals and assists and help the team to climb back up the table where we belong.

"I was impressed with what Lee and Steva had to say and obviously the gaffers credentials, so I'm really looking forward to getting in and playing some games."

Manager Lee Clark said: "I'm delighted to get Dylan signed.

"As you can see with Callum Robbie and Wrighty, I like my wide players to be exciting, positive, taking people on, scoring and making goals.

"Dylan fits that bill so we have good options in the wide areas with those four players."
