Arrival | Michael Liddle returns to Blyth Spartans

Thursday, 6 May 2021

Blyth Spartans AFC is extremely delighted to announce that Michael Liddle has returned to Croft Park.

The popular left-back first moved to Northumberland in 2016 and during his debut season helped the club lift the Northern Premier League title.

The former Sunderland and Carlisle United man swiftly established himself as one of National League North's leading full-backs as Blyth secured a play-off place, two seasons ago.

Liddle was among the number of players to make the switch to Darlington but is now back in green and white ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

In total, Liddle has made 112 appearances for Blyth and scored four goals.

Speaking about his return, Liddle said: "I'm delighted. I think everyone knows how I feel about the club. It's such a great club and it means a lot to me.

"To have the chance to come back - I'm really excited and thankful, so I'm looking forward to getting started now.

Michael Nelson, manager of Blyth Spartans, said: "Lidds is a very experienced and consistent performer at this level and has also played at a higher level.

"He has a good history with the club and a good connection with the Blyth fans.

"His experience, quality and leadership skills will be vital for us this season."
