Arrival | Nathan Buddle returns to Blyth Spartans

Thursday, 6 May 2021

Blyth Spartans AFC is absolutely thrilled to announce Nathan Buddle has returned for his third spell at the club.

The central defender first joined Blyth in 2013 following his release from Hartlepool United before his standout performances in the 2014/15 FA Cup run earned him a move to EFL side Carlisle United.

Buddle spent time at Gateshead before a loan spell back to Croft Park swiftly turned into a permanent one.

The central defender played a massive part in the club's recent success - including the Northern Premier League and Northumberland Senior Cup double.

He was a part of the squad that reached the National League North play-offs two years ago before joining Spennymoor Town.

With 236 Blyth appearances to his name, Buddle will now add to that tally during the upcoming campaign.

He said: "It's no secret that the last couple of seasons haven't been great.

"From my point of view, being affiliated with the club, it was difficult to look at some of the results.

"When Micky got in touch, it seems there is going to be a big change in direction and that's something I definitely want to be part of."

Michael Nelson, manager of Blyth Spartans, said: "Nathan, as with some of the other additions, already has that connection with the club which I feel is important.

"Not only is Nathan a big strong physical presence but he is a big strong character as well. Having that presence and character in the heart of our defence will be a massive plus this season.

"He has very good leadership skills and I believe he will be able to motivate and inspire players around him."
