Arrival | Wilson joins on loan from Burnley

Friday, 3 January 2020

Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce its second signing of the day with defender Scott Wilson joining on loan from Burnley until the end of the season.

Earlier this afternoon, we announced midfielder Mark Waddington, who has worked with manager Lee Clark at Blackpool and Kilmarnock, has joined us for the remainder of the campaign from Barrow.

Alternatively, Clark had been left light in defence at centre-back and left-back following the end of Lewis Ritson's loan from Hull City and injury to Anthony Callaghan.

Indeed, new signing Wilson can feature in both of the positions mentioned above and is available for Saturday's National League North encounter with Kidderminster Harriers.

The 19-year-old, described as a powerful defender, joined the Clarets' youth set-up in 2013 after impressing for Langho and Lammack Juniors.

Wilson has progressed through the under-18s and under-23s ranks at the Premier League club before he was awarded with a 12-month professional contract last summer.

A loan move to Northumberland is not the first of his career having spent last season on work experience at BetVictor Northern Premier outfit Stalybridge Celtic.
