TEAM NEWS

Game one of 48. The start of the season is when all teams are on evens and mathematically are equal to the others. Getting a good start is how Blyth started last campaign, with a home win over Grantham Town. A trip to last season's 8th placed Barwell will be seen as a tricky fixture but something in which we believe is winnable.

After seeing the departure of Jarrett Rivers to League 1 Blackpool, it's largely the same outfit as last season, which we will not be forgetten any time soon. With a couple of additions to boost up the numbers, tomorrow we will start our aim of getting into the play off positions or greater. The return of striker Dan Maguire from National League FC Halifax Town has been a recent positive but the Spartan striker has not got much game time under his belt pre-season period so will possibly take a few more weeks to get sharp enough to push for a start.

Going from the odds set on the league title this season, Blyth and Barwell are on close measures so a tight affair is expected. A win for the Green Army will set nicely for the return to Croft Park on Tuesday when we welcome Whitby Town.
