Big thanks to everyone for supporting Callums Wish

Blyth Spartans are delighted to annouce that thanks to the generosity of Spartans and Hednesford Town fans, players and officials we were able to raise an excellent £300.41 for Callums Wish to Walk on Saturday. As you will be aware eight year old Callum Brown, who suffers from cerebral palsy, was mascot for Spartans for the fixture at Croft Park and Callum is preparing for a trip to St Louis, USA for an operation on his spine that will help him walk for the first time in his life. His operation is planned for February 2013, but the charity also have to find funding for rehabilitation costs so every penny counts.

Before the game Spartans General Manager Ian Evans presented Callum with a Birthday cake as it was his eighth birthday last Friday and skipper Wayne Buchanan gave Callum a signed Spartans home shirt just prior to kick off. Despite the defeat in the game the club are delighted to report that Callum seems to be interested in becoming a regular visitor to Croft Park so you may see more and more of him around in the not too distant future. On behalf of everybody at the club a big thank you for supporting a brave young lad who is about to embark on a year that will change his life forever.
