Spartans battled back for a point after playing the last quarter of the game with 10 men following Phil Cave's dismissal.

The visitors made a dream start, taking the lead after just five minutes before a crowd of 437 at Croft Park.

A Neil Prince free-kick found Craig Mahon inside the penalty area and he was comfortable, slotting the ball wide of goalkeeper Jake Cunningham.

Spartans equalised on the stroke of half time.

Neil Hooks found Robbie Dale wide on the right and when a defender handled, Paul Brayson converted the penalty, firing wide of goalkeeper Scott Tynan.

Vauxhall went in front for a second time after the home defence failed to clear a corner and Paul Brown volleyed home from just inside the penalty area.

Goalkeeper Scott Tynan turned a Harrison shot round for a corner, before Cave was ordered off on 66 minutes when deemed to be the last defender fouling Obi Anoruo.

Ten minutes from time Mick Tait's side restored parity, Brayson clipping the ball past Tynam.
