Blyth Spartans sign Liam O’Mahoney

Friday, 6 August 2010

Blyth Spartans can announce the signing of winger Liam O'Mahoney following his release from Premiership side Sunderland.

The 21 year old right winger came through the youth system at Darlington, he then went on to sign for Sunderland and was a regular member of the reserve side at the Stadium of Light up until his release at the end of the 2009-2010 season.

Spartans Manger Mick Tait said of the signing "Liam is a good lad, he was in my youth team when I was at Darlington, he has plenty of pace, bags of skill and will hopefully be a player who excites the crowd at Croft Park".

Liam's first appearance in Spartans' colours was against his former club Sunderland and he went on to produce solid displays in the games against Northern League sides Spennymoor Town and Bedlington Terriers, where his pace and quick, accurate crossing ability, with either foot, was evident.

Welcome to the club Liam!
