The club can announce the signing of left back

Phil Cave

.

The 23 year old started his career at Newcastle United and upon his release from the Magpies, he trained briefly with Blyth before trialing with David Beckham's MLS side LA Galaxy, and subsequently joined Gateshead.

A successful first season at the International Stadium, that saw him score 9 goals from left back, gained the defender a move into the Scottish League with Livingston, but financial problems at the West Lothian club saw him return to Gateshead, initially on loan, and he was a member of the squad which gained promotion to the Blue Square National and then achieved survival in their first season (in total Cave managed 93 games for Gateshead).

The left back featured in Blyth's 3-0 win over Berwick Rangers on Saturday.

Welcome to Croft Park Phil!
