Blyth Spartans v FC United of Manchester Programme Preview
Friday, 30 November 2012
Facing a Manchester-based side boasting Neville in defence and Giggs in midfield this weekend, some Blyth fans might just be fooled into thinking that Spartans are competing against Premier League opposition once again.
And while neither Gary nor Ryan will be making the trip up to Northumberland this Saturday, their namesakes Lee and Rhodri - Ryan's brother - will be in the FC United squad for Saturday's game (3pm kick-off.)
Spartans' recent good home form is matched by their visitors' impressive away record. So, hopefully, the hotly anticipated clash will be able to thaw off any Saturday morning frost on the Croft Park surface.
This game sees two famous names of Non-League football coming together for their first ever meeting and those in attendance will be able to savour this historic occasion with an official matchday programme.
Winger Lee Mason grants us an interview, where he reveals his desire to begin consistantly playing the full 90 minutes of games. He also discusses the importance of the club's senior players and finally reveals whether or not his goal against Frickley Athletic was intentional.
Paddy Atkinson picks apart last week's 1-1 draw with Nantwich Town and discusses Marcus Maddison's introduction to the Evo-Stik League, while Ian Evans and Malcolm Stephenson return with their regular columns.
Match action from last Saturday, the latest news from Blyth Spartans Juniors and FC United's player profiles also feature, in addition to a new advert unveiling the follow up to last year's Dublin2Blyth cycle for the Scott Bell Fund.
The programme costs £2 and will be available prior to kick-off at both turnstiles, as well as inside the Social Club and the Club Shop.
If you can't make the game, or indeed any other home fixture, you can order one - in advance of the game - from the Supporters' Club (however, please be aware that stocks are limited.)
