Blyth Spartans v Stafford Rangers Programme Preview
Friday, 2 November 2012
Paddy Atkinson will be hoping for a fireworks display from his side this weekend - after their midweek Halloween horror show.
After winning 4-2 at home to Frickley Athletic last Saturday, Spartans travelled to Worksop in good spirits.
However, a ghoulish defensive display helped Town to inflict Blyth's heaviest defeat for 10 years - since a 0-7 away loss at Droylsden in November 2002.
And the caretaker manager will be hoping that loss will put a rocket up his players to perform better, so that the Spartans' supporters have something to remember at full-time.
And prior to 3pm on Saturday afternoon, all of the pre-match build-up is contained within another fiery matchday programme.
Spartans captain Wayne Buchanan features in an extended player interview, in which he discusses reaching 100 appearances for the club. "Buchs" picks out his favourite games and opens up about the decline the club has taken during his time at Croft Park.
The Ulsterman also discusses the recent injury problems at the back and reveals why he would trade in any personal accolades for a team triumph this season.
Due to print deadlines, Atkinson's notes focus on last weekend's triumph against Frickley - and the positives that were taken from it - and match action from that game is also included.
Ian Evans and Malcolm Stephenson give their regular insights in their respective columns and there is also all of the information on our visitors from Stafford.
The programme costs £2 and will be available prior to kick-off at both turnstiles, as well as inside the Social Club and the Club Shop.
If you can't make the game, or indeed any other home fixture, you can order one - in advance of the game - from the Supporters' Club (however, please be aware that stocks are limited.)
