TEAM NEWS

We are back at Croft Park for the second of the three consecutive home fixtures playing hosts to 16th placed Stamford. On Tuesday night, Blyth beat Ramsbottom United comfortably 4-0, with goals coming from Jarrett Rivers, Matthew Wade, Robbie Dale and Jordan Watson, his first for the club. Earlier in the season, Jarrett Rivers scored an only Spartan goal as the tie finished 1-1, also his first for the club. Blyth and Stamford have played each other 3 times, 2 being Green and White victories and the away draw earlier this campaign.

Following the midweek fixture, temporary assistant manager Lee Picton was assigned the full time number 2 for Tom Wade, Saturday's game will be his first as Blyth Spartans Assistant Manager. Nick Thomson made his home debut against Ramsbottom keeping a clean sheet. He will be looking to keep his form intact as he fills the gap of missing injured goalkeeper Peter Jeffries. A win for Blyth at the weekend could possibly move us up to 9th, leap frogging Stourbridge, Grantham Town and Halesowen Town, if results go in our favour. All teams above us in the current league standings have played between three and nine games extra than Blyth.
