Blyth Spartans have moved swiftly to secure the signature for another twelve months of the club's and the league's top scorer Paul Brayson. The Blue Square North club are delighted to have re-signed the 32 year old who scored 28 league goals.
Spartans Manager Mick Tait said "Brassie (Brayson) is a clinical out and out scorer who performed brilliantly in his first season for us. I think this sends out a signal of what we had in mind in terms of maintaining and improving our squad yet again for the forthcoming campaign. This is just the start of strengthening the squad and I intend to sign 3 or 4 more players who will enhance the team".
Brayson said "I really enjoyed my first season with Blyth and was really pleased to end up top scorer in the league, especially despite having not played in the first five fixtures, I seemed to gel with the lads straight away and I am already looking forward to next season, when I hope we'll better our 13th position in the league, with a push for the play offs." Commenting on the fact that he signed immediately following the conclusion of last season Brayson added "I had no hesitation in signing straight away, Blyth Spartans are a good club, which is run properly".
Blyth Spartans' chairman Tony Platten commented "It is a real boost for all of us at the Spartans that Paul has put pen to paper. his class is obvious for all to see and we hope in the continues to play and score in the same vein next season".
