Chairman “delighted” with Foster signing
Tuesday, 2 March 2010
Following yesterday's news of the signing of ex-Darlington centre half Stephen Foster, Blyth Spartans chairman, Tony Platten, has expressed his delight in procuring the services of the experienced defender for the remainder of this season.
Speaking of the new signing Platten said "I am naturally delighted that we have managed to secure the services of Stephen Foster and I am sure that his experience will not only add strength to our defence but also to the overall maturity and confidence of the team as a whole.
When Manager Mick Tait was appointed his connections with local league teams was an important aspect of his experience that was considered.
The fact that he has maintained these connections to the degree that he becomes aware of any developing situations with league players is a valuable asset to the Club.
When Mick became aware of the situation with Stephen he was able to make him an offer.
I feel sure that the financial stability that exists at Blyth Spartans played an important measure in him accepting the offer."
Foster will be in the Blyth Spartans squad for tonight's Blue Square North Clash away to Workington (Kick off 7.45pm).
