Charity Trek A Huge Success

Tuesday, 17 November 2009

Guest of honour at Saturday's game with Eastwood Town were three members of the 'Mick O'Brien Supporters Club' based in Dublin, Ireland.

Whilst a high percentage of the crowd at Croft Park on Saturday probably wandered down to the ground on foot, the three lads had set off on Wednesday from Ballymote to get the game using an incredible 11 forms of transport, ranging from a lorry to a skateboard.

The trek was all in aid of the RNLI and the lads have raised well in excess of £1,500 so far. This included £180 raised via the bucket collection at Croft Park and a £100 donation from Sunderland AFC Chairman Niall Quinn.

Should you wish to sponsor the lads please use the following link: -

There are several other events and auctions taking place to raise money for the charity, so the lads won't know the full amount that they have raised until the New Year.

Well done Lads!

The lads would like to thank the following people for helping them on their trip: -

- Adam Dixon, Steven Fitch, Deborah Burt and everyone associated with RNLI in Blyth
- Mark Walker
- The "Real" Swampies
- Steven Hadlow
- Blyth Spartans AFC Executive Committee
- Blyth Spartans Supporters Club
- Joe Sullivan (Celtic View)
- Debbie Guthrie (Sunderland AFC)
- Connal Cochrane (Glasgow Rangers)
- Derek Kinnevey (FAI)

But mainly they wanted to thank the supporters of Blyth Spartans for making their trip over such an enjoyable one (despite the result on the pitch!)
