Club Statement | Crowd trouble at Spennymoor Town match

Friday, 22 April 2022

In response to unsavoury incidents during our match away to Spennymoor Town on Monday, Blyth Spartans have banned three individuals from Croft Park.

The majority of the 155 fans in attendance on Monday were a credit to the Club, however there were reports of a minority of fans causing trouble, with items being thrown as well as an altercation outside the ground. We would like to thank Spennymoor Town for their cooperation with helping identifying these individuals so we can ensure they never set foot into Croft Park.

Unfortunately this is not the first time such behaviour has reared its head this season, with incidents at Croft Park and away to Gateshead in February.

Going to a football match should be an enjoyable and inclusive experience for everyone, whether that's meeting old friends, making new ones or a day out with family - things we have sorely missed during the pandemic.

Blyth Spartans will not stand for abusive or anti-social behaviour of any kind and will continue to do our utmost to stamp this out. If any supporters, home or away, witness any such behaviour we encourage you to raise with a steward, you can also contact our Stadium Manager Colin Blackett in confidence at [email protected].
