Confidence is getting there says Mason

Spartans winger Lee Mason was delighted to see his side take three points from their home win over Grantham Town and insisted that under the management of Tom Wade they are getting more confident with every game. It was Mason who set up the winner for striker Dan Maguire with a wonderful curled through ball and he insisted that all he wants to do is play regularly between now and the end of the season.

He said "Playing regularly is helping my form and fitness and I just want to play. It's great to be playing in a confident side and all I want to do is carry that on into next season. The aim now has to be to win our last three games and get on a roll going into next season so we can look to improve on our performance."

Mason was quick to admit that his side hadn't started the game well but felt that they were good value for the three points after a much improved second half show. Robbie Dale, Andy Jennings, Craig Hubbard and eventual goalscorer Maguire all went close but it only took one goal to win the game.

He revealed "It's a very good win and the lads did very well today. We admit we started the game very very slowly but we kicked on in the second half and deserved to win the game. It was a great goal that won it for us and we are getting there."

The former Hartlepool United winger also hailed the impact of match winner Dan Maguire after his intelligent finish won the points for Spartans. It's been a wonderful period of form for the front man as he has won two consecutive Port of Blyth Player of the Month awards and took his tally of goals to seven for the season and the former Seaton Deleval striker has impressed Mason.

He said "Dan has been unbelievable since he joined us and his work rate is just phenomonal. The goals that he is scoring are really good goals and goals of all types. He is changing the way we play the game and you can't pay him any higher credit than that."
