Cuggy Moves to Secure Future of Talented Duo

Manager Steve Cuggy has moved quickly to secure the futures of two of the club's brightest young starlets with goalkeeper Matty Hunter and midfielder Adam Forster signing two-year contracts at Croft Park.
The talented 18-year-olds, products of Monkseaton Academy and New Hartley Juniors, have greatly impressed the management team since the start of pre-season training and the club have moved quickly to tie the duo to the club on a more permanent deal.
Matty featured in the second half in Saturday's game with Partick Thistle, replacing Jake Cunningham at half time.
Manager Steve Cuggy commented "Matty came highly recommended and you can see why, he has impressed everyone at the club in the training sessions and the match against Partick Thistle."
"As a Blyth lad he'll hopefully have an affinity with the club and this pride will in turn improve him. He needs to keep his feet on the ground and concentrate on training hard, but is a fine, young 'keeper and he could go along way in the game!"
Goalkeeping coach Carl King commented "I watched Matty several times last season, and every time I saw him, he really impressed me."
"He has all the attributes required to be a top goalkeeper - solid handling, great footwork, excellent distribution and really good communication with the rest of his defence. He turned 18 last week and in my opinion is one of the top young goalkeepers in the north east."
"We are delighted to have secured his services at the Spartans and I'm look forward to working with Matty for many years to come."
Adam, an all-action midfielder, also featured in the second half of the Partick game replacing Shaun Vipond.
With regards to Adam, Steve Cuggy commented "He has shown a fantastic attitude since he joined, he is a product of the New Hartley Junior set up, they like to play the game the right way and you can see this in Adam."
"We think he has all of the attributes required to flourish at this level and that he will thrive in the more senior, professional environment at Blyth. He is another who has impressed so far and you see a level of respect from the more senior players in the squad, which is testament to the form that he has shown."
