FA Cup Windfall Increased

The Football Association has released details today of 20 current Blue Square clubs who will each receive just under £10k for their share of the FA Cup Pool after reaching the FA Cup 1st Round last season.

The figure paid, is calculated from monies generated and paid into the FA Pool by clubs involved in replays from the 3rd Round onwards.

This year the pay out is higher than it has been for a number of years and brought forth the following comment from Brian Lee the Chairman of the Football Conference.

"I am really pleased for the high number of our clubs benefitting. The number amounts to just under a third of our total membership and after the last few days it is welcome news for those clubs involved.

"This season the figure is sizeable and can only be a major boost at this time for those who battled through the competition last October/November.

"Out of our 20 clubs, almost half played their football last season in the Blue Square North/South and it proves that those efforts in reaching the 1st Round pays dividends over which they ultimately have no control.

"Therefore, when three of the top four clubs in the Premier League, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all draw away and then stage home replays, the minnows who have long departed the competition have also beneffitted.

"Myself and our FA delegates from the Football Conference Board will ensure we continue to support vigourously the FA Pool system and on behalf of our clubs I express a big thank you to the Football Assccoiation and the FA Challenge Cup Committee".
