Davis delighted to make an impact

After scoring his first two competitive goals for Spartans and being the catalyst for the late comeback that saw Spartans take all three points from Matlock Town today, striker Ash Davis revealed how it felt to get his maiden strike in a Spartans shirt. The former Whitby Town man said "It feels good, really good. It's been a few weeks I've been waiting for it and I'm really happy it's happened. I came on at a pivotal point in the game when they had the lad sent off and it changed the game so I was determined to make a different and I'm happy to have done so"

He continued "Tommy told me to get on and get a goal obviously but also we changed our formation to 4-3-3. That stretched the game and allowed us more room in particular for Robbie Dale. It meant me and Faz(Craig Farrell) got more space and we both managed to chip in with goals".

With Chorley visiting Croft Park on Tuesday night and an FA Cup tie on Saturday at home to Workington, it's a big week for Tommy Cassidy's men but Davis feels both Spartans and himself personally can go into two big games with confidence. He said "I've waited for my chance and i know we have two good strikers at the club with Faz and Airey. They've been doing the business and scoring so I've had to be patient. Hopefully today I've done enough today and we can all go into the next week full of confidence."
