Defence didnt get the breaks says Grant
Saturday, 1 September 2012
Spartans keeper Conor Grant came away from the rollercoaster 3-3 draw with Marine insisting that his defence's performance didn't warrant conceding three goals. A late goal from Marine substitute Karl Noon denied Spartans a morale boosting win against the Merseyside outfit but Grant felt his side couldn't have done much more. The former Gretna stopper said "Sometimes you get games like that and it can happen, football is a game of goals and whilst it's disappointing to concede three, we did pretty well as a unit and just didn't have the luck that you do sometimes need"
However Grant did insist that the Spartans dressing room would remain upbeat and look to bounce back from the agony of the last minute goal conceded when they travel to Stocksbridge on Tuesday night. Grant commented "It was a great game and the boys did really well. It was obviously disappointing to concede at the end of the game but we have to take into account the fact we were playing the side who were top of the league. It's really unfortunate the way it came about but we have to put it behind us before Tuesday, it's a big week for the club and hopefully we can get the win at Stocksbridge and then look forward to the FA Cup game here on Saturday."
