Departure | Nearney departs due to work commitments

Thursday, 15 August 2019

Blyth Spartans have agreed to cancel Josh Nearney's contract after a change in work commitments.

Nearney became one of Lee Clark's first signings in the summer, having played for the likes of Hartlepool United and Whitby Town.

He featured throughout pre-season and made his competitive debut during Tuesday's defeat to York City as a second-half substitute.

Due to recent a change in circumstances, going forward, the defender would find it difficult to fulfill his commitments to the club, such as away games.

Manager Lee Clark said: "Josh worked extremely hard at university to get his degree. He has found himself a job curtails his career and he has decided to go down that route.

"We wish him nothing but the best and good luck for the future."
