Thursday, 20 February 2020

Michael Sweet has joined Northern League Division One side Shildon on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old joined Blyth Spartans last summer having scored 128 goals in four seasons for Consett AFC.

Sweet has led the Spartans attack regularly this term with 30 appearances to his name with a goal return of five.

However, Spartans have agreed to loan the former England Schoolboys striker to the Railwaymen until the end of the season.

Blyth hold an option to extend the player's contract for a further year.

Blyth Spartans manager Lee Clark explained: "We have agreed to let Michael go out on loan for the remainder of the season but as a club, we have a year option on the player.

"Michael wanted to pursue this action at this time, which I have allowed. We wish him well."
