EVO-STIK AWARDS: Vice-Chairman Scott reveals pride at awards performance

Monday, 20 April 2015

Blyth Spartans Vice-Chairman Kevin Scott was on hand to witness three players from his club walk off with the main awards at the Evo-Stik NPL end of season awards night and declared himself "so so proud of the lads".

The talent of Robbie Dale, Stephen Turnbull and Jarrett Rivers were all recognised on the night, with the club monopolising the main award and Scott took the time to recognise the efforts of the squad as a whole, not just the trio who won awards.

"I am so so proud of the lads. The cross-section of awards we have won has been unbelievable. It is an accolade to the rest of the time as well, they have to bring these lads on and they have rose to the occasion and helped the lads who have won throughout the season"

And what of the man who has masterminded the revival at Croft Park. Scott praised manager Tom Wade and took his mind back to one of the darkest moments in the club's recent history when stressing how important Wade is to the club, describing him as its "heart and soul".

"Tom has been with us a couple of times and people forget about the night when we travelled to Droylsden about thirteen years ago when a former manager discouraged players from travelling. We turned up with barely a squad on the night, with lads we had rushed to sign and we got beat but we were applauded off because of how we had conducted ourselves.

The inspiration to get through that on the night was Tom Wade and he has come back and turned us around again. As I said on Thursday night at the forum the continuity is what we need and it is key to us.

Tom is key to that, he is the heart and soul of this club and I can't wait for next season, whatever league we are in. It doesn't matter, we will hit the ground running, no doubt about it"
