Blyth Spartans are delighted to announce that defender Jordan Watson has decided to extend his stay at Croft Park until 2020.

The 25-year-old's contract was due for renewal at the end of this season.

The former Sunderland Academy graduate has made 137 appearances in his Blyth Spartans career to date, notching two goals.

"It's great to sign a contract extension at Blyth.

"The fans have been great this season, obviously we had a slow start to the season but they stuck by us, we are flying now and hope we can continue this run."

The Northern Irishman is still in the process of recovering from his third cruciate ligament injury of his career, but has shown he's once again reaching his peak during a 13-game unbeaten run.

"I just want to thank the management team for showing confidence in me after my injury.

"They stuck by me and the gaffer was true to his word, he said get back fit, get back in the team, show us you've still got it and there will be a new contract waiting for you.

"It was a long road back but thanks to Chris Bell and Rob Wark for getting me back to full fitness."

Watson has made 21 appearances so far this term.
