Farrell hoping to fire Spartans up
Sunday, 22 July 2012
Spartans' new boy Craig Farrell hopes to continue his good start to his career at Croft Park and score the goals that get the club back to the Blue Square North Division. Speaking after his goal in the 1-1 draw with local rivals Gateshead the former Carlisle United and York City striker said "Personally I'd like to have an injury free year and hopefully carry on the goalscoring form that I've started with".
Farrell followed up from his debut strike in the 1-3 defeat at Ashington last Tuesday with an excellent half volley against the Tynesiders and his performance won praise from Spartans boss Tommy Cassidy.
However whilst the striker hopes for a good season personally, he knows that it's team success that will decide whether it's a successful season for the boys from Croft Park. Farrell said "At the end of the day Blyth Spartans should not be playing in the Evo-Stik and our aim is to hopefully bounce straight back up. Today we were very organised and worked hard as a team and we need to carry that on."
Farrell will look to make it three consectutive goalscoring games for Spartans when they travel to Sunderland RCA on Tuesday night looking to continue to improve on their impressive show against Gateshead.
