Frustrated Rivers feels Spartans deserved more

Jarrett Rivers celebrated signing a contract at Spartans by claiming his first competitive goal for the club at Stamford but admitted he was "frustrated" at his side's inability to take all three points. Tom Wade's created numerous chances as the front three of Dan Maguire, Robbie Dale and Rivers himself went close but a point was all they had to show for a good performance at the Daniels Stadium.

"We started off slowly but we had enough chances in the first half alone to have won the game comfortably. It was great to get off the mark with a goal but we are all very frustrated with only getting a draw"

After a slow start to the season it has been a good week for Spartans with a solid performance in the FA Cup at Darlington before defeating the Quakers in the replay at Croft Park. With a point gained at the Daniels Stadium Rivers feels the week has shown that better times are ahead.

"We are a lot more positive than we were heading into the Darlington game last Sunday. It's been a positive week and we have to carry that on into the FA Cup game at Skelmersdale United next weekend"

It's been a good week for Rivers personally too as he put pen to paper on a contract a Croft Park before scoring his first competitive goal for the club in the draw at the Daniels Stadium and he admitted he is enjoying life with Spartans.

"I am absolutely delighted to sign the contract and get my goal today. I have managed to get into the side and I know I have to continue to work hard to keep my place"
