Good luck Callum
Sunday, 20 January 2013
Everybody at Spartans would like to wish season ticket holder Callum Brown(pictured above with midfielder Neal Hooks) and his parents Neil and Sharon the very best of luck as he travels to St Louis for a life changing operation. Eight year old Callum suffers from Cerebral Palsy and is travelling to America today for an operation called a "Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy" and this can only be performed at the St Louis Children's Hospital. The operation will help him walk unaided for the first time in his life.
As you may remember Callum was mascot for the home game against Hednesford Town earlier in the season on a day when Spartans and Pitmen fans, officials and players gave generously towards the fund to help Callum travel for the operation and for rehabilitation costs.
Fundraising efforts are still ongoing to help with further rehabilitation costs upon his return from St Louis and we all look forward to seeing(and no doubt hearing!!!)Callum supporting the lads at Croft Park in the near future, although it's probably fair to say we aren't so sure visiting players or match officials will welcome his return as much.
