Harrison Bond arrives at Croft Park

Saturday, 27 July 2024

Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce Harrison Bond has joined on a season-long loan for our upcoming Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Divison campaign.

Bond signed for Gateshead last summer following a successful trial during pre-season where he faced Hebburn Town, Dunston UTS and Sunderland AFC.

Before joining the Heed he was a part of the Academy of Light where he featured for the academy sides in the Under-18 Premier League and Premier League 2.

He progressed through the ranks at Sunderland and made the first-team squad for their Carabao Cup fixture against Blackpool in August 2021.

The 20-year-old has also had experience in goal as he has played for Shildon and Whitley Bay during loan spells from Sunderland and Gateshead, Bond also played five times for Rob Elliot's side last season in both the National League and Isuzu FA Trophy, which Gateshead eventually went on to win.

On Harrison's arrival, goalkeeper coach, Tom Reed said: "We are delighted to welcome Harrison to Croft Park.

"A lot of work behind the scenes has gone on to get this deal sorted. I've heard a lot of great things about Harrison and he's a keeper I can't wait to start working with. He's had some great experiences but also seems so keen to learn and develop.

"After the 4/5 calls I've had with him he seems very focused and looking forward to the season ahead and more importantly he's a great lad. That's one thing I look for a lot in a Goalkeeper, making sure they are the right person to bring in before their goalkeeping traits.

"Harrison along with Micheal Hogan will provide a really strong goalkeeping department for us this year."

On joining Blyth, Harrison said: "I'm really looking forward to coming in and getting started.

"It's a club with a lot of history and expectation which is something that I love."

Welcome to Blyth, Harrison!
