Blyth Spartans is delighted to announce the signing of Harrison Clark upon the expiration of his contract with Gateshead FC.

The Ashington-born defensive midfielder becomes Graham Fenton's first summer signing ahead of the 2023/24 Vanarama National League North campaign.

Clark began his footballing career with Chester-le-Street United before being snapped up by Scottish Premiership outfit Livingston in 2021.

Despite not featuring in a competitive fixture for the west Lothian-based side, Clark enjoyed loan spells with Arbroath, Kelty Hearts where he picked up a Scottish League Two winners medal, as well as Stirling Albion during his time north of the border.

The 20-year-old then linked up with Gateshead in February of this current year and featured in two National League fixtures against Oldham Athletic and Southend United before spending the rest of the season on loan at Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division side Marske United for whom he made 13 appearances helping The Seasiders secure Step 3 safety.

Speaking on the arrival of Clark, manager Graham Fenton said: "We're delighted that Harrison has decided to sign for next season, he has real potential to progress over the next couple of years.

"Hopefully he can force his way into the team and show everybody how good he is, he also had a few clubs interested in signing him but he decided to join us at Blyth so I'm sure we will have a really good relationship with him and he can hit the ground running.

"Gary Neasham knows Harrison very well having worked with him at Park View Academy. He'll give us lots of energy, he can play in two or three different positions so he offers us some flexibility too and we're very much looking forward to working with him."

On joining Spartans, Clark said: "I'm delighted to come here and try to help out the Club as much as possible, to try and get as far up that league as possible, I want to make my mark as much as I can.

"It's local to me, it's a great Club, with a great fan base, and a big history, I'm just delighted to get on board and help out as much as I can."

Welcome to Croft Park, Harrison!
