Hooks Hoping For Another Historic FA Youth Cup Win For Blyth Spartans Juniors
Wednesday, 21 September 2016
Neal Hooks is looking forward to another exciting FA Youth Cup tie for Blyth Spartans Juniors - as they welcome Durham City Juniors to Croft Park this evening.
Spartans' U17s side saw off Hebburn Town Juniors in the last round, with an unbelievable 5-3 win in the club's first ever game in the competition.
Their reward is another home tie, this time against Durham City's youth team, and Blyth's assistant manager Hooks is tipping the club's young guns to be firing on all cylinders when the game gets under way at 7pm tonight.
Hooks said: "They were excellent in the last round. It's very exciting for them and it's exciting for the club.
"The young lads get a bit of exposure as well.
"It was an excellent achievement for the club. I know our lads enjoyed watching them - as they played some excellent football."
Despite missing much of the tremendous win over Hebburn due to holding training with the senior side at the same time, Hooks was was more than impressed with Spartans' junior side and hopes to see more of their second match in this season's prestigious FA Youth Cup.
He added: "From what I caught of the game, Blyth's last goal was brilliant football and a superb finish at the end of it.
"It'll be another exciting game again against Durham, so - hopefully - the lads and myself can see a bit more of it."
Tickets for Blyth Spartans Juniors v Durham City Juniors are priced at £2 for adults, while concessions get in for free. Croft Park is open from 6pm for the game and, if their last FA Youth Cup showing is anything to go by, this has all the hallmarks of another fantastic cup tie.
