How Many Chairmen Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb?

Monday, 22 August 2016

Following a floodlight bulb failure in the last match of last season, the task of changing the bulb fell to chairman Tony Platten.

Assisted by vice-chairman Kevin Scott and wearing a safety harness and hard hat, Platten can be seen here at the top of the 60ft mast making the repair.

After installing the new bulb, the whole installation was tested in readiness for the first evening game of the new season against Ashton United on Tuesday night.

Once he had safely returning to ground level, Platten commented: "I should have done the job when the tall ships were visiting Blyth on the upcoming bank holiday weekend - as it would have made for a perfect vantage point!"
