Hutchinson targets trophy to end “great season”

After playing his part in Blyth Spartans' Northumberland Senior Cup semi final win over Northern League side Whitley Bay, defender Ryan Hutchinson immediately set his sights on ending what he described as "a great season" by winning silverware. However the former Celtic youth player was honest in his assessment of the win over Paddy Atkinson's side by admitting that the game "wasn't pretty".
"It's been a great season and we have a chance to end the season with silverware now. It wasn't pretty tonight, not at all, but we have won a tough game and the final will be just as tough but we know what we have to do to win the game and hopefully we can do that"
Hutchinson began his first full season at Croft Park as part of Tom Wade's vast array of choices to play in centre midfield. However he made a successful conversion to centre back and has become a key part of the team in the process. With Spartans facing a serious fixture backlog thanks to their FA Cup exploits Hutchinson is keen to continue the good run of form and was happy to play his part in the win over the Bay.
"Obviously it's tough playing two games a week and we will be doing that for pretty much the rest of the season now. I played the whole ninety minutes at Buxton and that was hard but I am feeling fit and I was happy to play my part tonight"
The semi final win sets up a tie against Hutchinson's former club Morpeth Town, as Spartans look to win the competition for the first time in twenty one years. The twenty two year old is already looking forward to facing his former club in the showcase final.
"I'm looking forward to playing at St James Park in the final and obviously people will know that Morpeth Town are my old club after I played there last season. I still have a lot of old friends there and it will be good to see them, it should be a great night for everyone"
