Spartans picked up their first away win of the season away to the unbeaten Hyde United. Manager Mike Tait introduced the two new signings Paul Brayson and Mark Doninger straight into the starting line up. Then both debutants scored on their opening game for the 'green & whites'.

Josh Gillies and John Brackstone linked up down the left wing before releasing Brayson on the edge of United's penalty area, his effort was gathered down to his right by keeper Michael Jones.

On 16 minutes Mark Bell rescued the Spartans. Scott Mooney beat the Blyth offside trap on free on goal with keeper Bell only to beat he saw Bell save.

The game was held up mid way the first half when one of the assistant referees had to be replaced.

After the break in action Steve Turnbull's free kick was chested down by Brayson to Adrian Webster who volleyed over from 20 yards.

Only 2 minutes into the second half Blyth should have opened their account. Gillies floated in a right sided corner Brackstone headed the ball down to Mick Tait who turned and shot goalwards, only for Scott McNiven to clear off the line.

The forced introduction of Rob Dale on 50 minutes, led to Spartans scoring. Dale released Brayson down the right side of the United penalty area, he played a quick one two with Doninger before taking the ball past 2 defenders before placing the ball past Jones.

Dale linked up with Brayson again this time Tait finding himself one on one with keeper Jones, but Tait junior pulled his effort wide of the target.

On 78 minutes Turnbull released Brayson free on goal again and the Spartans forward appeared to have been tripped in the penalty area but the referee only awarded a corner. The home team let off was only short lived. Gillies played a short corner to Turnbull who lifted the ball to the far post for Brayson to head down into the 6 yard area for Doninger to turn and shoot home.

Spartans got their third late on. Some neat interpassing around the edge of the home penalty eventually saw the ball at the feet of Ian Graham who calmly slotted home.
