Tuesday, 23 September 2014

Twenty four hours after sealing his return to Croft Park Stephen Turnbull revealed his motivation for joining the Spartans for a third occasion - winning. Overseen by manager Tom Wade and General Manager Ian Evans, Turnbull put pen to paper and immediately set his sights on success at the club.

"I'm so excited to be back and for me it's the biggest Non-League club in the North East. Everything is set up here the way it should be and you should always want to play at the highest level possible. Coming back from my job maybe people thought I would just sign for a team in another league but I am here to prove myself again, I'm here to play at his level and most of all I am here to win"

The midfielder admitted there were other offers but cited a "good affiliation" with Spartans, the Green Army and the club as a whole as the reason he put pen to paper on Monday evening.

"I am delighted to be back here. It's a club where I have a good affiliation with the fans, the board and Tom Wade, who was a major factor in getting me back here. I can't speak highly enough of the club. I had other offers but there is just something about this place"

Turnbull hailed the "professional setup" that Wade and Colin Myers had put in place a he prepares for a third Spartans debut in the FA Cup tie with Skelmersdale United on Saturday.

"When I was here with Mick Tait everything was set up to win. It was very professional and the results showed that. No disrespect to anyone who was here last time I was but it wasn't the club that I left but the setup now is like a professional one, everything is done the right way and I can't wait to get started"
