Interview | Armstrong Responds to \"Pure Speculation\"
Tuesday, 10 October 2017
Blyth Spartans boss Alun Armstrong has described rumours linking him with a move away from Croft Park as "pure speculation."
Despite reports in the media, the 42-year-old told BlythSpartans.com, "I don't want to leave."
"I'm contracted to Blyth Spartans, they pay my wages and I'm focused solely on the task at hand.
"The club is in a great position at the moment, we've had a fantastic start to the season and I'm looking to push on with Blyth this season."
Under Armstrong's leadership, the club has gone from strength to strength, first earning promotion from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division before taking the Vanarama National League North by storm.
The former Middlesbrough striker once again stated his ambitions to progress up the pyramid, and he hopes that will be with Blyth Spartans.
"I'm ambitious, I've made no secret of that, but I believe it can be achieved at Blyth."
And the manager made a rally cry to the Spartans' faithful, to help him achieve his ambitions at the club:
"With the entertainment on show week in, week out, we need to be getting crowds of 1,000+, the players deserve to play in front of a packed house."
"Every fan through the gate on a Saturday afternoon helps this club progress, if we can get four figure crowds every week - the playing budget increases and we can make additions to the squad.
"I've made no secret that we need to add a couple of players to the squad, you as fans can be the difference.
"We as a club are now on the map, we're third in the Vanarama National League North and we have four players training with the England 'C' squad.
"I don't want to go anywhere."
