Interview | Clark confident points will arrive soon
Monday, 19 August 2019
Lee Clark is confident Blyth Spartans will soon be up-and-running in National League North and was pleased with Saturday's first-half performance against Hereford.
Spartans were on top in the first-half and were unfortunate to be behind at the break after Mike Symons' opener on 24 minutesĀ
However, in the second 45 minutes, Clark admits his side fell short, and believes the "fear factor" kicked in longer as Blyth trailed 1-0.
"I was really pleased with our performance in the first half of the game on Saturday except for the disappointing goal we gave away," Clark said.
"The shape was good as were some individual performances. I was disappointed with the second half where we didn't reproduce what we did in the first.
"I think the players get a little bit anxious when they go behind and a fear-factor creeps in.
"There weren't so many options available for the man on the ball so we ended up lumping it sometimes.
"That's not the way I want to play. But I can't keep saying that - we need to get points on the board.
"I'm confident that will happen soon if we start achieving better consistency and taking the lead in games."
