Blyth Spartans boss Michael Nelson is hoping JJ O'Donnell will have an impact both on and off the pitch following his season-long move from Gateshead.
The Heed cult hero arrives having surpassed 100 appearances at the International Stadium, most of which came in the National League.
Nelson is pleased to get the 29-year-old on board, and hopes he bolsters his squad in more ways than one.
Nelson told blythspartans.com: "He's a great character on and off the pitch and brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm, and a lot of quality.
"He was always the life and soul and joker in the Gateshead dressing room when I was there.
"Hopefully he'll bring that into the dressing room at Blyth and just give the lads a lift - both on and off the field - as soon as he gets going.
"He knows the level. He knows quite a few of the lads at the club as well, which will be a big help.
"He will definitely add to us and make us stronger.
"He is more than capable of playing at this level and he has played higher, so I'm sure he'll give us a boost."
O'Donnell could make his debut against Kettering Town on Saturday.
"One of the things with JJ is he is very versatile," Nelson added. "He can play left back, left wing back and he can play in an attacking three as well.
"He started last season at Gateshead in a front three and was their top goalscorer.
"He can also play in-and-around the striker. He brings great energy and great legs when joining the front.
"JJ gives us options and to change the shape and adapt, so I'm sure he'll fit in very well."
