Joel Holvey joins Blyth Spartans

Blyth Spartans are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Joel Holvey on a one-year deal at the club.

The 19-year-old arrives at Croft Park following his release from Rotherham United at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Joel predominantly plays his trade on the left flank where he has featured as a full back and in more attacking positions in his career.

Holvey made his first-team professional debut for Rotherham at the end of the 2022/23 campaign as a second-half substitute against Wigan in the EFL Championship.

He spent last season at Gainsborough Trinity on a season-long loan in the Northern Premier League Premier Division making 21 appearances and scoring three times across all competitions.

Joel is available for selection tomorrow and can potentially make his debut for the Spartans against Hebburn Town.

On the signing of Joel, Director of Football, Steve Howard added: "Joel is a very good signing for us, his reading of the game and attitude will massively strengthen our defensive options.

"Joel also gives us an attacking option with his work rate and quality going forward."
