Just what we needed says Horner

Going quietly about your business seems to be the way for Spartans midfielder Lewis Horner. The former Hibernian man has made an impressive start to his career at Croft Park and walked away with another man of the match award for his performance in the dramatic late win over Rushall Olympic. However he was keen to shrug off personal acclaim and focused on a team performance that ensured his side put a poor run of form behind them with their first ever win over the Midlands outfit.

"It doesnt get much better than that does it and it's exactly what we needed. We have been under pressure after some poor results so it was vital to get a win today and we did that. I think we deserved it"

Horner's fellow midfielder Paul Robinson chose the perfect time to notch his first goal for the club as his late wonder strike sealed the three points. That sparked wild celebrations on and off the park and Horner revealed his delight at being part of one of the most memorable moments of Spartans season so far.

"You could see by the celebrations exactly what the goal meant to us. It gets us up and going and we can prepare for Bedlington on Wednesday night now. Scenes like what we saw at the end are what football is all about, I came here for moments like that and it was great to be part of it. The passion from the fans and the players was just brilliant"
